Lebanese Novelist Amin Maalouf Awarded The French National Order Of Merit
Renowned Lebanese-French author Amin Maalouf was honored at a ceremony held in Paris this past Saturday, February 29th where he was granted the National Order of Merit by the French government. French President Emmanuel Macron presented Maalouf with the elevated the title of Grand Officer, the second-highest status of the merit.
The National Order of Merit is intended to reward “distinguished merit” and encourage the lifeblood of the country.
Maalouf who is often described as one of the most influential writers in the Arab world weaves extraordinary tales in his novels, mixing historical events, romantic love, fantasy, and imagination.
