Google Wallet Is Finally Available in Lebanon! Here’s Everything You Should Know

After years of waiting, Google Wallet has officially launched in Lebanon, bringing with it the long-awaited ability for Android users to make contactless payments using their phones.

The launch happened on June 24, 2025, alongside other countries like Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, and South Africa, marking a major expansion for Google’s digital payment services across the region.

Here’s everything you should know about this rollout.

1. Google Wallet for Bank Audi and Neo Digital Mastercard Holders

For the first time ever, Bank Audi and Neo Digital Bank have introduced Google Pay services in Lebanon. If you’re a Mastercard holder with either of these banks, you can now add your card to Google Wallet and use your Android phone for:

– Contactless payments at stores in Lebanon and abroad

– Online shopping

– In-app purchases

Setup is simple: just open the Google Wallet app, tap “Add a card,” and follow the instructions to link your Bank Audi or Neo Digital Mastercard.

This is a major step forward for Lebanon’s digital banking scene, making fast and secure mobile payments available for thousands of users.

2. Google Pay for Whish Visa Card Holders

If you’re a Whish Visa Card user, you’re also in luck. Whish Money, one of Lebanon’s leading fintech companies, has announced that its Visa cards are now compatible with Google Wallet too.

That means Whish customers can now tap to pay in-store or shop online with their Android device. The process is similar. Just download Google Wallet, select “Add to Wallet,” and follow the steps to add your Whish Visa Card.

This launch comes just as Google Pay officially goes live in Lebanon, giving Whish users a more seamless and contactless way to pay both locally and internationally.

For iPhone users, there’s still a catch. While Apple Wallet is available in Lebanon, Apple Pay remains unsupported by local banks. This means Google Wallet and Google Pay are now offering functionality that iPhone users still can’t fully access here.

If you’re wondering how safe all this is, Google Pay comes with several built-in security features designed to protect your info during every transaction.

Instead of sharing your actual card number when you tap to pay, Google Pay uses a process called tokenization. This means your sensitive card details are replaced with a unique digital token. Every transaction is then approved using a dynamic security code that changes each time you pay, making it much harder for anyone to steal your information.

Plus, your actual card number is never stored on your phone or shared with merchants.

With smartphone use at an all-time high in Lebanon and mobile internet penetration above 80%, this shift toward secure, mobile-first payment options feels long overdue. As more local banks get on board, expect even more cards to become Google Wallet compatible soon.
