Coffee and Clay: Have You Tried This Pottery Studio in Mar Mikhael?

At Klei in Mar Mikhael, you’ll spend those three hours getting your hands dirty with clay, trying your hand at pottery, and probably arguing over who turns out to be the most naturally gifted at wheel throwing. Founded by artist Yara Freichieh, the studio also serves coffee and tea, so you can skip out on a boring café trip and get a little creative instead.

What to expect

Klei offers pottery workshops for adults and children, and you don’t need any previous experience to join. You can try Wheel Throwing, where you shape clay using a pottery wheel, or Hand Building, which involves forming your pieces entirely by hand.

Both workshops let you create your own pottery piece and work on it from start to finish.

If painting is more your thing, Peinture sur Céramique workshops give you the chance to pick a ready-made ceramic piece and decorate it however you like. It’s a good activity to do with friends, especially if you’d like to spend time together doing something a little different. You can also enjoy a coffee while you’re there.

And if you’re not interested in getting your hands dirty, you can still visit the shop to browse Klei’s own pottery collections and pieces by other local artists. The studio also offers private workshops for birthdays, group outings, and other occasions if you want to make your outing extra special.

And if you’re someone who can’t go five minutes without checking your phone, you’ll have no choice but to give it a break at Klei.
