70 Years Later, Al-Dimasi Sweets Closes Down In Nabatieh Until Further Notice

It’s no secret that the current financial and economic crisis has taken a toll on many local businesses, forcing them to shut down and let go of their employees.

Editorial Purpose: We are sharing this piece of content to shed light on struggling Lebanese businesses.

One of the most recent victims of this hard-hitting reality is Al-Dimasi Sweets, a popular sweets shop in the heart of Nabatieh that made a name for itself with its exemplary and authentic Middle Eastern sweets.

Established in 1950, Al Dimassi has withstood the test of time and carved its spot as a beloved Lebanese staple for mouthwatering sweets. It lived through the Civil War and other notable periods of Lebanese history, but unfortunately could no longer sustain itself amid these difficult times.

A note left on their storefront reads: “Due to the urgent economic situation and the dollar crisis, and out of consideration to people’s living standards and caution to preserving the quality of our sweets, we are forced to close down temporarily until the situation is more stable. We hope to meet again soon.”

We can’t help but think of all the employees and businesses that are paying the price for a crisis they’re not responsible for.

How many more local businesses will have to bear the brunt of the economic downfall before serious reforms are made?
