Lifesaving Pacemakers Are No Longer Available In Lebanon

The aggravating Lebanese crisis has snowballed into a never-ending catastrophes that only seems to be getting worse.

Dr. Fadi Sawaya, the Director of the Structural Heart program at AUBMC, has recently shared a concerning Tweet announcing the shortage (or complete absence) of pacemaker devices in Lebanon.

Pacemakers are life-saving devices that are used to regulate irregular heartbeats. They are a staple in cardiovascular surgery and do not have many effective alternatives. Medical shortages now leave surgeons and medical professionals unable to treat patients in need. This vicious cycle of bad news has unfortunately become an inevitably routine part of our lives.
