Activists Still Detained For Storming MPs Homes

The explosion of a fuel tanker in Akkar which claimed 28 lives and more than 70 injuries shocked and outraged many who thought we had already hit rock bottom. And as it quickly became apparent that Akkar MPs had been reportedly implicated in the stockpiling and smuggling of fuel, protestors and citizens rushed to the homes of the fuel tanker owner, setting it on fire, and then the homes of MP Tarek el Merhebi and PM Najib Mikati. Here is some footage:

The ISF then issued a statement asserting that they will go after anyone who violates the homes of politicians. They then detained William Noun, brother of August 4 victim Joe Noun, who has since been released from custody. However, several other activists are still detained, including Ara Manoukian, Khodor Eido, Ahmad Ghannam, and Wassim Shantouf are still being held.

We can no longer handle this amount of grief and despair. The current crisis will not be met with tears or sadness, but rather a violent reaction towards those responsible not only for the August 4 blast or the explosion in Akkar, but also their legacy of corruption.
