Warehouse Raids Uncover Stockpiled Medication…And People Were Not Happy

We won’t be discussing Hamad Hassan’s choices of when he considers it to be the right time to start doing his job, and we certainly won’t comment on his acting skills…

In a recent raid of several warehouses in Lebanon, caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan uncovered massive amounts of out-of-stock medications, particularly those used for chronic illnesses. In the video, he appears to be scolding the owner of the warehouse, saying he is withholding thousands of stockpiled medications that have been off the market for several months.

This revelation did not sit well with citizens, as many proceeded to vandalize the owner of the warehouse Issam Khalifeh’s pharmacy. “Murderer”, “corrupt”, and “killer” were spray-painted on the shutters of Ghadir Pharmacy.

Another name that was also trending in the raids was that of Hussein Machmouchi, the owner of PharmaNet, who was also found to be hoarding many vital medications that his company had purchased at the 1,500 LL rate.

The situation continues to worsen, as not only does the government deny people their most basic needs, but even Lebanese citizens themselves are engaging in that same behavior.
