Young Musicians Breaking Through The Local Scene With Ingenuity

In the face of buried dreams rises a big sound wave of Lebanese artists who are putting in remarkable effort to keep the inspiration in circulation. Let us introduce you to 8 young musicians who are demonstrating their talents independently:


2. Arba’een

Switching from “Lil 40” to “Arba’een” as a symbol his of music progression over the years, rapper and music producer Nadim Karanouh released his “Birth of Arba’een” debut EP on the first of February 2022, with five originals dictating the personal struggles he faces in a troubled country. His distinct sound is characterized by distant low volume vocals and a mix of English and Arabic lyrics.




3. Roxane

From posting sultry covers of trendy rap songs for Doja Cat and Cardi B, to creating her original single “Unfuckwithable”, this Lebanese-French singer currently residing in Dubai maintained a synergy of powerful vocals and audacious lyrics. Her debut single and music video daringly reclaim the narrative around women’s bodies and freedom, drawing inspiration from the 2000s RnB era.




4. Gorax

For those about to headbang, Gorax salutes you! Besides being the lead vocalist ofNocturna, this man fixes the local metal audience with a dose of hefty covers for death metal bands including Slaughter to Prevail and Cannibal Corpse.




5. Amjad Mrad

The youngest of the list, this 19-year-old film student, singer, and songwriter produced a song that got streamed around 66 countries on Spotify, crossed 100k plays on Anghami, and even made it to Virgin Radio! Here’s “Sick of You” performed by Amjad during his small concert at LAU Beirut:




6. Mike Beau

Growing up watching drag shows and listening to icons Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson, Mike Beau made out of himself a charismatic stage performer who combines pop and electronic music with fashion and entertainment. He had his first concert ever at Metro Al Madina in November 2021, and blew the audience away with his bold makeup looks, extravagant outfits, and radiant energy!




7. The Blue Pulpit

A harmonist/vocalist, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer came together in 2021 to bring you a signature sound that fuses old school blues rock with psychedelic tunes. The band performs original expressive anthems that defy conservative norms, with concerts mostly hosted at Rumman and Cava in Tripoli.



8. Esmeralda

Ukrainian-Lebanese singer-songwriter Esmeralda Younes got famous for stirring the feelings of her TikTok audience through angelic-like covers, and “Beirut I’m Sorry”, a song she composed and dedicated to our beloved city and the soul of a childhood friend she had lost due to the tragic August Blast. You can always catch her performing with the band at chill bars around the country!
