Tribute To Sami Clark (1948-2022)

Yesterday, Lebanon awoke to news of the death of one of its most influential singers and musicians Sami Clark who sadly passed at 73.



Clark was the voice behind the stellar version of the Grendizer theme song in Arabic and has several iconic songs that have marked the memories of various generations. From his classic Oumi ta nor2os to Ah 3ala Hal iyyam, Clark was known for his relatable songs in spoken Arabic (3amiyye). In many ways, he is regarded as one of the first Pop stars of the Arab world.



Clark, whose real name is Sami Hobeika, was born in Dhour Choueir in 1948. Over the course of his career, Clark recorded over 700 songs in various languages including Arabic, English, French, Greek, Italian, and Russian.



As news of his death broke, tributes poured in from fans and celebrities.











His music lives on.
