World Cup Hysteria In Full Swing In Lebanon

Brazil’s opening game victory against Serbia yesterday has ushered in a wave of football hysteria as Lebanon’s legion of loving Brazil supporters took their celebrations to the extreme.

After the upsets recorded against Argentina and Germany, pressure was pretty high on Brazil to avoid a similar fate. The Brazilians did just that, scoring 2 goals through Richarlison in the second half and easing to a 2-0 victory.

Huge motor convoys were seen in Tripoli and Beirut, with a swath of Brazil flag-carrying motorcycles and cars making their way through the cities. The convoys were in a jubilant mood, honking across streets in a scene reminiscent of political celebrations.

In Sour, it was reported that 5 Brazil supporting women fainted while watching the game in the cafe. Some were taken care of on the spot by Civil Defence officers, while others had to be taken to the hospital.

Yesterday, a Germany-supporting man in Tripoli was seen shooting at his Brazil-supporting counterpart after taunts were exchanged over the Germans defeat against Japan.

It is safe to say, world cup hysteria is in full swing across the country.
