CASAR cordially invites you to a lecture entitled "Songs of a Nation: The Origins of the American Missions Movement" by assistant professor Sam Haselby. Sam Haselby is a historian of eighteenth and early nineteenth century American political culture. He obtained his PhD in history at Columbia University. In New York, he also worked as a journalist, publishing over forty articles in the history of material culture. He taught history and religious studies at The New School University in New York City before becoming a Junior Fellow (2007-10) at the Harvard Society of Fellows. He recently finished The Origins of American Religious Nationalism, 1776-1832, a book on the role of religion in the formation of American nationality. He is a visiting assistant professor of American Studies at AUB.
