Man Killed By Stray Bullet Fired At Fuel Lines In Akkar

According to Annahar, a young man was hit with a stray bullet during a fight over fuel two days ago in Fnaidek, Akkar. He sadly passed away this morning at the Habtoor Health Center in Akkar.

As Lebanon’s compounded crises show now signs of letting up, we are sadly seeing more and more of such occurrences. Just last month, a young man a young man was killed during a fight for fuel, also in the Northern city of Akkar. These areas are normally disenfranchised, something that has only worsened throughout the crises.

This incident is another sad reminder of the need for stricter gun control laws in Lebanon. According to Lebanese law, gun ownership is strictly prohibited without having a permit – but permits are easily accessible and the process often involves a lot of loopholes, making the laws more elusive than they are effective.

May he rest in peace, our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
