The leading music platform in the Middle East and North Africa,
Anghami has officially listed on the US NASDAQ under the ticker ANGH following a deal with Vitas Media Acquisition Company. Watch their founders ring the bell!
The listing marks the first time that a tech startup from the region gains listing on the NASDAQ.
Founded by Elie Habib and Eddy Maroun, the platform has seen great success since its launch in 2012 as the first legal music streaming service in the Arab world out of its previous headquarters in Jal el Dib. It grew to cater to an impressive 75 million users and is seen as an example of successful tech startups in Lebanon.
Back in January of 2021, Habib announced that the popular app would be
moving their headquarters to Abu Dhabi presumably due to the horrific economic crisis. Habib made a promise that the Beirut office will never close, yet the decision to relocate the headquarters to Abu Dhabi would allow the app to be in a city that “invests in their team”.
